Instronic approached me to direct and design a digital art piece for CaixaBank’s large-scale experiential screens. The brief required a highly stylized aesthetic executed with organic, lifelike behavior: autumn flowers seamlessly looping through cycles of blooming and closing, while petals and foliage gently drift, gracefully carried by the wind.

A key creative challenge was ensuring the visuals resonated deeply with CaixaBank's iconic corporate identity (blue, red, and yellow) while maintaining a refined, nostalgic autumnal atmosphere.

I directed the design and look development for this piece, partnering with the amazing FX Artist Victor Murillo, who meticulously crafted the procedural flower simulations in Houdini to make each bloom as beautiful as possible.

Below is my personal "Director’s Cut"—fully rendered using traditional CGI workflows without AI intervention—alongside some further production details. Enjoy. :)

MAKING OF

The initial brief from Instronic included this approved mock-up as our main visual reference. While I found this mood fantastic, I felt the need to elevate it and bring it closer to the brand's core identity. The goal was clear: to create a stylized yet deeply realistic botanical environment. From there, I focused on fine-tuning the art direction to immerse the viewer in a distinct 'Caixa world'.
During the look development phase, I experimented with textures to retain that nostalgic look while refining the overall detail. As you can see, the initial iteration stayed quite close to the original mock-up. However, knowing how large digital displays behave, I realized these muted tones would look washed out once backlit by the screen's native light.
To counterbalance this, I pushed the contrast to make the colors pop, injecting the vibrant, iconic tones directly inspired by the brand's logo.
Once the visual style was locked, the next step was bringing the garden to life. Collaborating with Victor, he handled the complex flower simulations in Houdini, while I focused on the wind dynamics, environment setups, and final look-dev in Cinema 4D.
Putting it all together, this was the final result :)
Thanks for watching! It was a challenging yet incredibly rewarding project. :)
