Such a blessing to work with Tendril Studio once again—this time for Canada’s largest retailer, Loblaw Companies Limited. In partnership with Loblaw Digital, we helped bring their PC Optimum Year in Review to life for customers.
To make this happen, I was tasked with directing a team of incredible 3D artists: Erick Correia, Fernando Roque Camargo Catalano, Flavio Diniz and Luan Rossi. All of this was made possible thanks to the amazing production support of Julia Blackwell and Johanna Stewart and the great supervision of Tendril's co-founder and ECD, Leo Mateus.
It was a lot of fun bringing this bunch of “3D buddies,” as we liked to call them, to life—making ordinary objects feel tangible, as if you could touch, squeeze, and interact with them.
Behind all the fun, however, there was a major technical challenge: learning to work with JSON files on the fly to ensure everything was fully optimized and 100% compatible with the app. It felt like teaching breakdance to an elephant without getting squashed in the process 🐘🤪
My sincerest gratitude to both Loblaw Digital and Tendril for their trust and support. I’m so glad we were able to pull this off together 💖
PROJECT RECAP
INTRO & OUTRO ANIMATIONS
3D ASSETS CREATED
UI DESIGN AND ASSETS INTEGRATIONS
INTRO ANIMATION TESTS
Only to figure out the right animation for the intro we worked in more than a dozen versions, looping, not looping, falling gracefully or hitting some obstacles.

OUTRO ANIMATION TESTS
My intention was to show all the fellas bouncing with each other before ending the recap. To get the right balance we tried with a good bunch of options until we agreed with the client on the right solution.

3D BUDDIES CREATION PROCESS
Here and example of how we created each of these 3D objects, iteration after iteration, improving with each version until both myself and the client are happy, :)
From top left to bottom right you can see each of the iterations.
